Social Media

The Rodgers Tavern Museum seeks outgoing volunteers to contribute to the Museum's digital presence on social media.   Social Medial volunteers focus on  public communication and building relationships with potential and current visitors to the Museum.

Main Responsibilities:

• Keep social media channels updated

• Encourage comments on posts and share them with others

• Monitor conversations and respond when appropriate

• Compile statistics on use, engagement, and growth of social media presence

• Contribute ideas and feedback on current and future social media campaigns

• Increase the number of social media followers

• Set, work towards, and report on social media objectives and targets

• Serve on committees or project teams as needed 

• Projects may include:

  • Copy writing: Write monthly blog pots for the Museum's website.  Posts could be on the Museum's activities, profiles of other volunteers or historical events/people associated with the Tavern/Lower Ferry's history.

  • Photography: Developing and updating the Museum's photographic presence on social media sites, identifying gaps, taking photographs/videos at events

  • Public Relations: Write press releases on an as needed basis, responding to media interest in exhibits, educational programs, and events

• Abide by all museum policies and procedures

• Record volunteer time after each shift

Skills/Experience/Attitude Requirements:

• Possess a friendly, outgoing personality with a "can do" attitude and desire to learn

• Ability to provide excellent judgment and tact in interpersonal interactions

• Ability to follow instructions and also work independently

• Be reliable, dependable, and available to work a consistent schedule

• Ability to communicate and interact with a diverse audience

• Some experience in customer service or hospitality preferred (but not necessary)

• Basic computer skills

• All volunteers must pass a criminal background check and be 18 years or older
