About the Event
The great Napoleon once wrote that "an army marches on its stomach." Nathanael Greene, an American general during the American Revolutionary War, once stated, "Nobody ever heard of a quarter Master, in History." For Napoleon, that is correct, for Greene, not so much. This talk will dive into the causes and outcomes of supplying the Continental Army during the pivotal winter encampment at Valley Forge and into the campaigning year 1778. From examining the decisions by the Continental Congress, George Washington, and Nathanael Greene, the history behind why the winter of 1777-78 was the one that won the war will be evident.
